Our Planning Process
Three Levels of Planning
Getting Started
Personalized Service And Fees
Many people come into my office and talk about “boilerplate” language and “forms.” These are pet peeves for me…. The legal language we use in drafting your plan should be thought of as tools attorneys use to craft a flexible plan that adjusts to changing circumstances. You might not need all of the tools, but it’s important to have them in your toolbox (estate plan) just in case.
We spend a lot of time reviewing your family situation, assets and concerns before our meeting. Then we block out two hours to meet with you. The first hour is for educating you about estate planning – what it is and how it all works – and getting to know one another to decide whether working together is a good fit.
We provide you with legal advice on what plans meet your needs. You decide how to proceed, weighing the pros and cons of different options. Once you’ve decided how to proceed based upon your needs and budget, you choose your level of planning – which is a flat fee based upon your choices. It’s straightforward.
The second hour is for designing the specifics of your plan. Believe me, we ask a lot of questions that most people don’t even think about and provide custom scenarios tailored to you.
Whether you are a young family primarily concerned about protecting minor children, a single adult, a blended family, a non-traditional family or an older couple with adult kids or no kids, the planning looks a little different in each case.
We are here to navigate options with you. Our plans range in price from about $3,000 for a simple plan to $8,000 for complex planning with asset funding. We are not the cheapest attorneys, but you get what you pay for. All of your worldly assets and the people you care about the most deserve a plan that will work based upon sound legal advice. You don’t know what you don’t know — and we’re here to make sure you make informed choices based upon our advice and your situation.
We’d love to meet with you – so schedule today!
